Cleft lip and palate are one the most common congenital anomalies among the newborns. Whereas, these defects are quite disturbing for the family, Plastic Surgery of these patients give one the most satisfying results. At times, parents do not get these patients operated at younger age due to lack of knowledge, ….but see the results of the transformation……..

This patient had previously undergone cleft lip surgery but required further correction due to residual deformities. After a thorough evaluation, a secondary cleft lip repair was executed to address the remaining asymmetry. The surgery restored the lip to a more natural shape, enhancing both function and aesthetics. With a well-hidden scar and an improved overall facial appearance, the patient experienced a noticeable increase in confidence, and their family expressed immense gratitude for the positive outcome.

Patient with a left-sided unilateral cleft lip came to my clinic seeking treatment to restore both function and appearance. Cleft lip repair using a meticulous technique that ensured proper alignment of the lip and surrounding structures. The surgery resulted in a beautifully restored smile, with minimal scarring and enhanced facial symmetry. The patient’s confidence soared post-surgery, and the follow-up visits confirmed an excellent recovery, with no functional issues, allowing for both a functional and aesthetic improvement.

This case explores the successful surgical intervention for a patient with very wide cleft lip going into the nasal floor and nasal cavity was almost abolished on the cleft side making the reconstruction a bit tedious job. Whereas, the cleft lip and palate deformities are quite common in our part of the world, and whereas these surgeries need to be carried out within the first year of life, it is quite common to see these congenital deformities in quite older people as well. Reason may be multifold, lack of facility or illiteracy. Outcome:Cleft surgeries yield excellent results irrespective of the age. However, if carried out at an earlier age, patient may be saved from the psychological trauma they go through due to these deformities.
