This case explores the successful surgical intervention for a patient with very wide cleft lip going into the nasal floor and nasal cavity was almost abolished on the cleft side making the reconstruction a bit tedious job.
Whereas, the cleft lip and palate deformities are quite common in our part of the world, and whereas these surgeries need to be carried out within the first year of life, it is quite common to see these congenital deformities in quite older people as well. Reason may be multifold, lack of facility or illiteracy.
Outcome:
Cleft surgeries yield excellent results irrespective of the age. However, if carried out at an earlier age, patient may be saved from the psychological trauma they go through due to these deformities.
